Alisa Gillespie
Alisa Poston Gillespie received her BA in modern dance from Brigham Young University. While there she received the Outstanding Female Performer award and had the opportunity to perform and teach internationally with the Dancers’ Company in Thailand, Taiwan, Cambodia, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Alisa completed her MFA in Dance Teaching and Choreography from the University of California, Irvine. While there she had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala to teach a dance and creativity workshop. Alisa has since earned her Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst Certification, which has heavily influenced her somatic approach to teaching dance technique and creating choreography. Dancing professionally for three years with Conder/DANCE based out of Mesa, Arizona, Alisa worked with choreographers Carley Conder, Keith Johnson, Ashleigh Leite, and Mary Fitzgerald. Alisa has taught as adjunct dance faculty at Glendale, Scottsdale, and Estrella Mountain Community Colleges in Arizona and is currently in her second year teaching at Brigham Young University. Alisa, her husband Cornelius, and sweet baby boy now reside in West Jordan, UT.
